July 5, 2020 Service

Dear Church Family and Friends,

It is the July 4 th weekend – a holiday of fireworks, celebrations, perhaps a vacation to the beach?  How exciting!  Hopefully, we are also spending some time thanking the Lord for the freedom we have in this country.  To have the freedom to go to church, own a Bible, and have access to abundant natural resources such as food and water are just a few blessings from God to this nation. The following is only a few of many references what the Bible says about independence:

Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.  1 Peter 2:13-17 ESV

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.  Galatians 5:13 ESV

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  2 Corinthians 3:17 ESV

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!  Psalm 33:12 ESV

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, …  Ephesians 6:10-18 ESV
